People assigned risk management tasks handle everything from high‑stakes decisions to the “miscellaneous” tasks no one else knows where to put. This roundtable exercise is designed to share some of the unexpected, unusual, and memorable situations we’ve all encountered in our roles. Through storytelling, reflection, and group discussion, we’ll explore what these experiences reveal about the risk culture of our organizations, what types of evolving responsibilities are being assigned to risk management, and what kind of skills are needed to help navigate the unpredictable. Expect laughs, insights, and a deeper understanding of the realities behind our profession.
These will be the conversation starters for our networking and group discussion event:
1. From a risk management perspective, what is one of the most surprising, strange, or unexpected situations you’ve had to deal with?
2. What is something you never imagined you’d be responsible for when you took your job?
3. Thinking about all the “miscellaneous” or unusual tasks that land in your role, what do these responsibilities say about your role in the organization?
